Travels of the mind
We have just had two excellent seminar workshops today, Travel writing and Poetry.
Many thanks to our two speakers, Graham Reid and Siobhan Harvey. Once again everyone who attended came away with an excitement for writing that stemmed from the sheer enthusiasm of our speakers, as well as some very practical tips and advice.
Summing up in a sentence:
Travel – the direct unvarnished truth and facts of writing (and selling) travel articles.
Poetry – quintessential short-form writing, the concentrated essence of any and all writing.
………….
Thanks as well to all our attendees, who also brought their enthusiasm and love of writing.
Siobhan with the Committee.

Comments from the day:
“ I really enjoyed it and learned so much. Thankyou to all concerned. Thankyou Graham. “
“ Lovely group, inclusive, thought provoking conversations through the whole thing. Such a good way to spend the weekend. Thankyou. “
“ I learnt so much. Very inspiring. “
“ It is years and years since I attended a writing workshop and it has been a real treat… Siobhan is fizzing with enthusiasm … and managed to pack so much into the afternoon… thanks so much. “
So our two latest speakers really picked up where the previous seminars left off and continued the excellent standard. Not just very informative, but also great fun as well.

Our next seminar is in two weeks, and we now look forward to that one with great enthusiasm.

Yeah, I felt pretty much the same way. It is surprising, though perhaps it shouldn’t be, how much ALL writing has in common. I didn’t care much for Romance Writing, and got a tremendous lift from the seminar; Travel Writing, nyaaynhh; Poetry, double nyaaynhh, and in both instances the benefits flowed. I stand abashed.
